TLC President and General Manager Nancy Daniels said the network is standing by “Trading Spaces” designer Carter Oosterhouse despite a makeup artist coming forward to say he repeatedly coerced her into performing oral sex on him.
“We did look into the allegations,” Daniels said at the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday. “We also looked into everything that we did throughout our production on this run of ‘Trading Spaces,’ and we take it all very seriously.”
“At the end of the day, we feel very comfortable with continuing with Carter on this show,” she added.
Oosterhouse did not appear on the panel to discuss the revival of the home renovation show, which featured host Paige Davis, as well as a number of the show’s other new and returning designers.
In a Hollywood Reporter story last month, makeup artist Kailey Kaminsky accused Oosterhouse of coercing her into oral sex when she was his makeup artist in 2008. Kaminstky said Oosterhouse threatened her job and pressured her into oral sex “10 to 15 times.”
In a statement in response, Oosterhouse said they had a sexual relationship he believed to be “100 percent mutual.”
Kaminsky told THR that Oosterhouse’s advances were even more surprising because she identifies as a lesbian.
