‘Trainwreck’, Amy Schumer Comedy From Judd Apatow, Gets Release Date

Universal sets a summer 2015 opening for Apatow’s first directing gig since “This Is 40”

“Trainwreck,” a comedy produced and directed by Judd Apatow, will open on Friday, July 24, 2015, Universal Pictures said Wednesday.

Amy Schumer (TV’s “Inside Amy Schumer”) wrote the script and will star.

Apatow will produce via his Apatow Productions banner, alongside Barry Mendel (“Bridesmaids”). Apatow’s last directing effort was “This Is 40,” which took in $67 million domestically and $88 million worldwide for Universal in 2012.

At this point, “Trainwreck” is the only movie scheduled to open on that weekend. However, Warner Bros.’ Batman vs. Superman movie from Zack Snyder is scheduled to open the week before, and Disney and Marvel’s “Ant-Man” will open the following week.
