‘True Blood,’ ‘Heroes’ Webisodes Among Producers Guild Contest Finalists

Oscar-winner “The New Tenants” also makes the cut in Producer’s Challenge Contest

An Oscar short-film winner and webisodes of the TV series “True Blood” and “Heroes” are among the 10 finalists for the Producers Guild of America’s Producer’s Challenge contest, which the PGA launched last year to promote the work of emerging storytellers and new media.

The PGA contest gives awards in three categories: Short Film, Independent Webisodes and Studio Webisodes. A panel of producers chose the finalists, which will screen their work during the PGA’s Produced By Conference, which takes place from June 4 to June 6 at 20th Century Fox in Los Angeles.

“The New Tenants,” one of the short film nominees, won the Academy Award for Live-Action Short in March.

Prizes include professional camera and post-production equipment, a “mentoring lunch” with a noted producer, and an all-session badge to next year’s Produced By conference.
