BET announced Thursday that “Sistas” will be the second of five projects that Tyler Perry is developing for the network.

The series is described as a dramatic comedy centered on “a group of single black females from different walks of life who bond over their one common thread: Why am I single?”

KJ Smith, Ebony Obsidian, Mignon Von and Novi Brown will star, with Tyler Perry serving as executive producer, writer and director. Production on the series is currently underway at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, with the show slated to premiere in the fall.

“Sistas” joins the political drama “The Oval” as the first two projects announced under Perry’s multi-year overall deal with BET parent company Viacom, for which he set to produce a total of four series and one live holiday special.

The two dramas, two comedies and the special are all slated to air between October 2019 and September 2020.

“The Oval” stars Ed Quinn and Kron Moore as picture-perfect first couple Hunter and Victoria Franklin, who, behind closed doors, are anything but flawless. Paige Hurd and Daniel Croix Henderson will also star as the couple’s wild-child daughter and troubled son.
