Universal Acquires International Rights on Kathryn Bigelow’s Osama Bin Laden Film

Universal Pictures International will handle international distribution for Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden project, penned by "Hurt Locker" writer Mark Boal

Universal Pictures has acquired international distribution rights to Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming film based on the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Edgar Ramirez and Kyle Chandler are just a handful of the names filling out the cast for Bigelow, who won the directing Oscar for 2008's “The Hurt Locker.”

Mark Boal, who wrote “The Hurt Locker,” penned this project as well.

Universal will distribute the film in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Scandinavia, South Africa and Spain.

Sony will release the film in the United States on Dec. 19.
