Six months after Frances McDormand introduced “inclusion rider” into the national and show business vocabulary, WarnerMedia has pledged to create a companywide policy that offers inclusive hiring practices in front of and behind the camera.
Warner divisions HBO, Turner Networks and Warner Bros. Entertainment will commit to the practice, developed with actor Michael B. Jordan and WME agent Phillip Sun to offer a “commitment to diversity and inclusion on our projects, with the goal of providing opportunities for individuals from under-represented groups at all levels,” the studio said.
The first project to deploy the fledgling policy is the Jordan film “Just Mercy,” which begins production this week in Atlanta under director Destin Daniel Cretton. The company will issue an annual report on its progress.

WarnerMedia companies, Warner Bros., HBO and Turner, have long been committed to diversity and inclusion as moral and business imperatives.
