Watch Kimmel Ask Sean Spicer What His Mom Thought of His Time as Trump’s Press Secretary (Video)

Jimmy Kimmel grilled Spicer for 13 minutes on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night

Jimmy Kimmel had a special guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night — none other than Donald Trump’s former press secretary, Sean Spicer, who is doing the rounds to promote his new book, “The Briefing: Politics, the Press, and the President.”

Spicer was Kimmel’s second guest — unusual for someone of his political profile on a late-night show, but he got a solid 13 minutes of interview time to hawk his book and pitch viewers on his podcast.

You can watch the interview in full in the video embedded up above.

Kimmel wasn’t exactly gentle — during his monologue, he teased the Spicer interview by referring to him as the star of “the 2017 comedy show, the White House press briefings,” and midway through the interview, Kimmel asked Spicer how his mom felt about his time working for Trump.

“What did your mom think of all the abuse you got, of all the things you were — you know, obviously there were a lot of jokes made at your expense,” Kimmel asked.

“Many by you,” Spicer noted.

“Many by me,” Kimmel agreed.

Then Spicer gave a standard, diplomatic answer.

“You know, my mom, my dad and my wife have been my strongest advocates and supporters. I think there were clearly times where she felt, you know, felt for me in a way that only a mother can,” Spicer said.

But Kimmel kept probing.

“Did she ever say, ‘go in there and tell that son of a bitch Trump to stop making you lie’?” Kimmel asked.

“My mother would never speak like that,” Spicer said. “She’d say, ‘I’m praying for you.’ ”

Kimmel ended the exchange with a solid zinger.

“I imagine there was a lot of praying going on during that time of your life,” Kimmel quipped.
