Wu-Tang’s The Rza Joins Fox Pilot ‘Gang Related’

Tiger style comes to Fox

Wu-hoo: Wu-Tang Clan mastermind The Rza has joined the Fox pilot "Gang Related."

Getty ImagesThe rapper/producer/actor/director/producer will co-star on the series about a gang member who infiltrates the San Fracisco police department and finds his loyalties torn between his old family and his new one. Th cast includes Jay Hernandez and Ramon Rodriguez.

The Rza, born Robert Driggs, has a slew of acting credits, including in "The Man With the Iron Fists," which he also co-wrote and directed. His TV credits include Showtime's "Californication."

Beginning in the early 1990s, he produced soundscapes for the Wu-Tang Clan and individual members' solo projects, including his own. One of his trademarks is simpling sound effects from Kung-Fu films for percussion.

Many Wu Tang songs were featured in films, and he soon transitioned into composing film music, first for Jim Jarmusch's "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai," in which he also appeared.

He also composed music for for "Kill Bill," among other films, as he took on more on-screen roles.
