Bryan Singer has been accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy in court documents filed on Wednesday.

According to the lawsuit filed in federal court in Hawaii, plaintiff Michael Egan, who was named in a press release by his lawyers, was 17 when he was forced to perform various sexual acts with Singer during the late-1990’s.

“We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit,” Singer’s attorney Martin Singer told TheWrap. “It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan’ s new movie is about to open in a few weeks.”

The court papers allege Singer “manipulated his power, wealth, and position in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse and exploit the underage Plaintiff through the use of drugs, alcohol, threats, and inducements which resulted in Plaintiff suffering catastrophic psychological and emotional injuries.”

The suit alleges that Singer had told the plaintiff, an aspiring actor and model, that he could help his career if he continued performing the various sexual acts, which include alleged forced oral and anal intercourse.

“Plaintiff never freely, voluntarily, and knowingly consented to these sexual interactions, and often resisted them,” the suit states.

The lawsuit was filed a month before the release of Singer’s next movie, “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” is due to be released.
