Hoping to play on your brand new Xbox One with over Thanksgiving break? Looks like you’re going to have to wait a bit longer.
Microsoft Corp.’s hotly anticipated Xbox One went on sale Friday at midnight around the world, and a check of major retailers indicates that the console has already sold out.

By late Friday afternoon, Xbox One units were unavailable at online stores for all of the console’s official retailers: GameStop, Walmart, Toys-R-Us, Target, Amazon, and Microsoft’s own store. Some, including Target and Walmart, also indicated the Xbox One was out of stock in stores.
Just last week, Sony released Xbox rival PlayStation 4, which the company reports sold 1 million units in the first 24 hours and was also sold out for a time. Microsoft had hoped to differentiate its product by marketing it as a one-stop entertainment system, which in addition to advanced gaming capabilities includes built-in streaming services and a unique deal with the NFL for fantasy football and live game content.

Exactly how many Xbox units were sold – and when Microsoft expects to have the in-demand consoles back on the shelves – remains to be seen. The Xbox press team declined to share information when contacted by TheWrap Friday afternoon.
