Zack Snyder’s ‘Ant-Man’ Diss Pits Freaks v Geeks in Hero-Movie Debate: Wrap Trends (Video)

TheWrap’s Jordan Burchette reveals the “Batman v Superman’ director’s nefarious plot to kill the genre

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” director Zack Snyder had some unkind words for Marvel’s summer blockbusters this week, earning him the title of “mean girl.”

While defending his DC superheroes against Steven Spielberg‘s prediction that the superhero movie will go “the way of the Western,” Snyder took a jab at his competitor’s movies, insinuating that they’re “bubblegum.”

“I feel like he’s right,” Snyder told The Daily Beast. “But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies … They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man — not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next, Blank-Man?

“I look at it as more being mythological than, say, bubblegum.”

He said. About characters who wear primary-colored body suits with boots and capes.

While some may call Marvel’s movies “bubblegum,” others might call them “fun” or “pleasurable” or “better than laying on the floor playing The Cure while crying.” But, hey, Zack says “potato,” the box office says “potboiler.”

Is Snyder right about the differences between the Marvel and DC cinematic universes? Or is he just being a Debbie Downer? Watch the latest Wrap Trends and decide for yourself.
