TheWrap's Screening Series kicked off on Wednesday night with a showing of Tony Goldwyn's "Conviction," the true story of a Massachusetts woman who put herself through college and law school so that she could become a lawyer and help free her brother, who'd been wrongly convicted of murder.
Actresses Hilary Swank, Minnie Driver and Juliette Lewis showed up to talk about the experience, along with Betty Anne Waters and Abra Rice, the two real-life women played by Swank and Driver.

While the screening was taking place, the five women gathered in the Arclight bar for a lively conversation about the rigors of promoting movies and the state of women in Hollywood. Then they split up for brief video interviews -- Swank with Waters, Driver with Rice, and Lewis by herself in a chat that was interrupted when it was time for the post-screening Q&A with Sharon Waxman, then resumed afterwards.
Topics ranged from the pressures Swank felt playing a real person when that person was watching on a monitor in the next room to Lewis' hilarious description of a character she'd love to play: a cat woman she encountered while watching the TV show "Hoarders."
