“True Blood” and “Magic Mike” star Joe Manganiello has confirmed in an interview that production on Ben Affleck‘s “The Batman” will commence this coming spring.

Entertainment Tonight caught up with the actor at Mohegan Sun’s 20th anniversary party this past weekend. When asked how he was doing, the actor said, “Great man, just getting ready to go shoot Batman in the Spring.”

Manganiello will play the deadly villain Deathstroke in the film.

The casting, as first reported by the Wall Street Journal, comes after TheWrap confirmed that Deathstroke, a brilliant and deadly assassin, would be the lead villain in the Warner Bros. film.

DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns confirmed the casting in an interview with the Journal.

Manganiello has been sharing on his social media accounts his preparations for the film. On Twitter he has shared images of several comic book series that he has been reading up on as research with a number of Deathstroke titles and more.

In 2009, Deathstroke was ranked IGN’s 32nd greatest comic book villain of all time. Deathstroke, also known as Deathstroke the Terminator or simply Slade, is known to be the greatest assassin in all of DC Comics. He has encountered Batman on several occasions in the comics, beginning in the 1991 Deathstroke standalone DC comic.
