‘Call of Duty’ Goes to Space in First ‘Infinite Warfare’ Trailer (Video)

Sequel to popular game will take players to whole new planets

Publisher Activision has revealed “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” ahead of schedule, and the trailer that heralds the blockbuster franchise’s first interstellar war is quite a doozy.

It’s not the first time “Call of Duty” has left Earth’s atmosphere — that honor goes to 2013’s “Call of Duty: Ghosts” — but it looks like this will be its longest trip. The trailer indicates that “Infinite Warfare” will be a full-scale interstellar war, complete with robust zero-g murder sequences and a plotline that will take the player to multiple other planets, and even give them a robot buddy or two.

“Infinite Warfare” is coming from development studio Infinity Ward, one of three rotating studios that take turns producing a new installment each year. Infinity Ward, in fact, is the studio that was founded to create “Call of Duty” more than a decade ago, but almost none of those original employees remain in 2016.

Despite all the madness, “Infinite Warfare” is still immediately recognizable as a “Call of Duty” game. And it’s a “Call of Duty” game you’ll be able to play on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 4 of this year.
