CBS’s ‘The McCarthys’ Pulled From Schedule

Freshman series about a sports-crazed family suffered lukewarm ratings

It looks like “The McCarthys” could use a four-leaf clover right about now.

The freshman CBS comedy, about a loud, sports-crazed family in Boston, has been pulled from the network’s Thursday night lineup, an individual with knowledge of the move told TheWrap on Wednesday.

There are four original unaired episodes remaining in the season. While there’s a possibility that they will air at a future date, there are currently no solid plans as to when they will be seen.

The future of next season is currently not known, but the show at this point is not officially canceled.

The series, which stars Tyler Ritter, Laurie Metcalf and Joey McIntyre, has suffered from lukewarm ratings, though its most recent episode enjoyed a minor uptick, inching up to a 1.6 rating/5 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic — a 7 percent increase over its last original airing on Jan. 15.

Repeats of CBS’s hit sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” will air in the show’s 9:30 timeslot for the time being.

In December, the network gave the show a modest glimmer of hope by airing two more episodes.
