CNN’s “OutFront with Erin Burnett” has beaten Fox News’ “On the Record with Brit Hume” for eight-straight days among the key news demo of adults age 25-54.
This is the first time ever that Burnett has won eight straight days in the demo, and the longest winning streak for CNN during the 7p.m. ET hour in 16 years.
“We are incredibly proud of the show’s success. We know viewers have a lot of choices when it comes to where they get their news and the fact that they’re coming to Erin night after night for election coverage is really gratifying,” “OutFront” executive producer Susie Xu told TheWrap.
Burnett has topped her timeslot competition among the demo on both Fox News and MSNBC each weeknight since Thursday, Oct. 6 when she averaged 374,000 demo viewers compared to 349,000 for Fox and 306,000 for MSNBC.
Burnett’s best night of the streak was Tuesday, Oct. 11 when she averaged 531,000 demo viewers and rivals didn’t crack the 400,000-plateau.
“Our competitors are smart. MSNBC and Fox do different style shows from us, but of course we notice what they do,” Burnett told TheWrap back in June. “[OutFront viewers] want analysis, they want storytelling that is creative and not what they’ve seen online all day, and they want energy and passion.”
