Oscar Performance: John Legend and Common’s ‘Glory’ Brings ‘Selma’s’ David Oyelowo to Tears (Video)

Actor has intensely emotional reaction to song from his film at awards ceremony

Someone hand David Oyelowo a Kleenex.

Oyelowo, who played Martin Luther King Jr. in the Oscar-nominated film “Selma,” had an intensely emotional moment at the Oscars on Sunday, as John Legend and Common performed the song “Glory” from the film, which took home the Best Original Song award.

The performance found the stage filled with non-white faces, during a ceremony that has been criticized for being overly Caucasian and even spawned a trending Twitter hashtag, #OscarsSoWhite.

The performance might not have single-handedly solved the awards show’s diversity problem, but it certainly seemed to strike Oyelowo to the core.

Watch a grown man cry in the video.
