A “friend” has become a hero.

Actor David Schwimmer helped police identify a stabbing suspect after he showed them security camera footage of an altercation that broke out outside his property, the New York Post reports.

According to the Post, the stabbing took place adjacent to the “Friends” star’s $4 million townhouse in the East Village section of Manhattan.

His surveillance camera captured part of a fight that involved two men who were allegedly in a prostitution payment dispute.

It was welcome news for Schwimmer, who received flak from locals during the construction of his house in the neighborhood several years ago, which they said caused the “destruction of an irreplaceable historic building.”

He has even made new friends with his latest gambit.

“Four years ago, I would say David Schwimmer was the least popular guy on the block with the construction and all,” neighbor Jayson Fillermutter told the Post. “But he has turned out to be a decent neighbor, and I am glad to hear he helped the cops with that stabbing.”
