text-autospace:none">Now here’s an awards show that doesn’t need to expand to 10 nominees to get some crowd-pleasing movies into the mix.

text-autospace:none">MTV announced its 2010 MTV Movie Awards nominees on Wednesday, and the lineup is long on blockbuster hits and teen idols, with “The Hangover” scoring six nominations, “Avatar” following with five, and “The Twilight Saga” and its stars (below, from the 2009 MTV ceremony) showing up all over the place, from Best Movie to Best Male and Female Performances to three out of the five slots in the new Global Superstar category.

One would think that Kristen, Robert and Taylor would have some stiff competition from Johnny Depp in that last race, but one never knows with the MTV awards. (Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images.)

While movies like “The Hangover,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “The Proposal” and even “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” dominated the nominations, MTV voters did make room for a handful of Oscar nominees and winners: Sandra Bullock in the Best Female Performance category, Christoph Waltz for Best Villain, and Gabourey Sidibe and Anna Kendrick for Best Breakout Star.

On the other hand, “Up in the Air,” “Precious” and “Inglourious Basterds” managed just a single nomination each, a total topped by the likes of “Jennifer’s Body,” “Percy Jackson” and “Dear John.”

Categories included Biggest Badass Star, Best Scared-as-Sh**t Performance and Best WTF Moment, in which Betty White copping a feel in “The Proposal” will go up against Megan Fox vomiting “a mysterious black ooze” in “Jennifer’s Body.”

Voting is open to the public, who can cast ballots through June 5 at MovieAwards.MTV.com. Polls in the Best Movie category will stay open throughout the show.

The awards will take place on Sunday, June 6 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA. Aziz Ansari will host the ceremony, which usually tried hard to be more newsworthy than the winners.
