‘Dirty Dancing’ Remake Casts Colt Prattes in Patrick Swayze Role

Actor joins Abigail Breslin and Debra Messing in ABC movie

Colt Prattes Dirty Dancing

ABC’s “Dirty Dancing” remake has cast its Patrick Swayze.

Actor/dancer Colt Prattes will play Johnny, the charismatic dance instructor and leader of the working-class entertainment staff at an early 1960s Catskill Mountains resort, opposite Abigail Breslin.

Also set to star in the adaptation is Debra Messing as Marjorie Houseman, mother to Breslin’s character, Baby.

Produced by Lionsgate TV, the “Dirty Dancing” remake will be a three-hour event with filmed song and dance performances, adapted from the 1987 classic starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

The remake is executive produced by Allison Shearmur and Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie, with music from Adam Anders and Peer Astrom. Judy Cairo will also serve as producer.

Jessica Sharzer wrote the adaptation for “Dirty Dancing” and Wayne Blair will direct. Choreography is by “Hamilton’s” Andy Blankenbuehler, and Steven Altman serves as production designer.
