Disney Star Sierra McCormick Cast in Slasher Film ‘Some Kind of Hate’

Adam Egypt Mortimer is directing the movie, which also stars Ronen Rubinstein and Grace Phipps

Sierra McCormick (Disney’s “A.N.T. Farm”) is set to star in Adam Egypt Mortimer’s original slasher movie “Some Kind of Hate” alongside fellow rising stars Ronen Rubinstein (“It Felt Like Love”) and Grace Phipps (Disney’s “Teen Beach”), production company Caliber Media announced Monday.

Mortimer co-wrote the screenplay with novelist Brian DeLeeuw. Caliber Media partners Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller arranged the financing and will produce alongside Amanda Mortimer and Gabriela Revilla’s Revek Entertainment.

The rest of the cast includes Michael Polish (“Big Sur”), Noah Segan (“Looper”), Lexi Atkins (“Zombeavers”), Spencer Breslin (“The Happening”), Maestro Harrell (“Suburgatory”), Jasper Polish (“The Astronaut Farmer”), rising music producer Jeremy “JHawk” Hawkins and Brando Eaton (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”).

“Some Kind of Hate” follows Lincoln, a tightly wound kid who is a favorite target for the local high school bullies. Sent away to a remote desert reform school, the harassed teenager accidentally summons a vengeful spirit, herself a victim of bullying, to exact retribution on his tormentors.

Production starts this week in Los Angeles.

Rubinstein recently starred in Caliber Media’s “Condemned,” and the company recommended that Mortimer consider the young actor for the role.

Mortimer also created and writes the comic book “Ballistic” for Black Mask Studios.

Caliber Media is in post on a number of films including the Dylan Penn movie “Condemned,” Coatwolf’s “Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins,” comic book adaptation “The Scribbler” and the Kevin Durand movie “Dark Was the Night.”
