‘Guardians of the Galaxy’: Here’s the First Look at Disneyland’s New Ride (Video)

Theme park is revamping the classic Tower of Terror ride in time for the debut of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”

Disneyland has released its first look at the “Guardians of the Galaxy” ride that will replace the popular Tower of Terror attraction in the California Adventure park.

“The setting is a giant warehouse belonging to the Collector, this huge power plant kind of place … packed with all of his rare collections from around the world,” Joe Rohde, portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, says in the video.

In the video, the engineering teams takes viewers through the design of the attraction that is supposed to be the Collector’s Fortress, set to debut next summer.

In July, it was announced that the ride will be called “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!” and take over the space currently occupied by the Tower of Terror, a popular elevator-drop ride that shut down in January.

“It takes you into the world of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ in this really immersive exciting experience that features the really quirky and beloved characters from the film in a whole new narrative that no one’s ever seen,” Rohde explained at Comic-Con in San Diego.

“With its debut timed to the release of the film’s sequel, we are eager to present the attraction to the millions who visit Disney California Adventure and place them in the center of the action as they join in a mission alongside our audacious Guardians of the Galaxy team,” added Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is due in theaters on May 5, 2017.
