Group develops economic relations between nations
Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has been re-elected vice chair of the U.S.-China Business Council, which focuses on commercial relations between the two nations.
Iger was elected to another term at the council’s biannual board meeting Wednesday. Chairing the board is Ellen Kullman, Chairman and CEO of chemical company DuPont, who was also reelected.
The Disney CEO is the only representative of the entertainment industry on the USCBC board, which is otherwise populated by high-level executives from engineering, tech, and investment concerns.
Disney — and the rest of Hollywood — has a vested interest in maintaining positive economic relations with China, as studios continue to set up production arms and seek to release films in the country’s rapidly expanding movie market.
