Robert Schwentke will not sit in the director’s chair for “Ascendant,” the fourth and final film in the “Divergent” series that stars Shailene Woodley.

An individual close to the production confirmed to TheWrap that Schwentke, who helmed the series’ second and third films, “Insurgent” and “Allegiant,” departed because he had to catch his breath after directing the two movies so closely together.

Though it has not been filmed and is now in need of a director, “Ascendant” is set to debut on June 9, 2017. Lionsgate previously pushed the movie back a few months to land on that release date.

“Allegiant,” meanwhile, opens on March 18, 2016. It also stars Theo James, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Jeff Daniels and Naomi Watts.
