Fresh off their Oscar nomination for Best Original Music Score, “Lion” composers Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka gave TheWrap an exclusive behind-the scenes look at how they created the captivating compositions.

“I never had a doubt since the moment I saw the film that it would resonate with a lot of people,” O’Halloran reveals in the video clip.

“Lion” was nominated for six Academy Awards Tuesday in the following categories: Best Motion Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Dev Patel, Best Supporting Actress for Nicole Kidman, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Cinematography.

Following the announcement of the Oscar nominations, O’Halloran and Hauschka said in a joint statement: “We feel extremely honored to receive this Academy Awards nomination and to be acknowledged by The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences.

“We celebrate this nomination with our friend and colleague director Garth Davis, and the whole creative team and talented cast of ‘Lion,’” they continued. “We are grateful that our music supports this magnificent true story of love, determination and family. Saroo’s journey enriched our lives and we hope it will touch audiences watching this beautiful movie around the world, bringing us all closer together.”

The 89th Academy Awards air live from Hollywood on Sunday, Feb. 26, and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
