Ratings: ‘Thursday Night Football’ Scores Giant NBC Win

Though the New York Giants actually lost

A down-to-the-wire New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles “Thursday Night Football” game will always do damage in primetime, but the pigskin was especially potent on a particularly sleepy evening.

The peacock-colored broadcaster crushed its competition last night, as the gridiron coverage jumped 26.9 percent week over week.

NBC was first in ratings with a 3.3 rating/12 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 12.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. A pregame show and the NFC East matchup itself netted to those results.

ABC was second in ratings with a 1.0/4 and third in viewers with 4.4 million. Following a “Charlie Brown” special encore, “The Great American Baking Show” at 9 posted a 0.9/3 and 3.9 million viewers.

CBS was third in ratings with a 0.8/3 and second in viewers with 4.8 million, airing all reruns.

Univision was fourth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and fifth in viewers with 1.6 million.

Fox and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.5/2. Fox was fourth in total viewers with 1.9 million, airing repeats; Telemundo was sixth with 1.4 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 743,000. Special “Terry Crews Saves Christmas” at 8 managed a 0.2/1 and 822,000 viewers. A rerun followed.
