Russell Brand is a huge talent who welcomes the chance to challenge people, issues and institutions through his unique comic perspective, and we’re very excited to connect him to the Epix audience across all of our platforms,” said Epix president and CEO, Mark Greenberg, in a statement.

“‘Messiah Complex’ on Epix is a joyous media event like the moon landings or the O.J. Simpson trial,” Brand joked. “Except it really happened and no one gets murdered.”

In an exclusive preview from the special, Brand talks about the titular messiah complex, wherein someone believes they are a savior, often Jesus Christ. He then goes on to talk about a psych ward in Jerusalem where there are multiple sufferers of this condition, and how awkward it must be when they talk together, arguing over who is the real lord and savior.
