First ‘Inhumans’ Trailer Brings the Royal Family to Earth (Video)

“Game of Thrones” villain Iwan Rheon leads a coup against his brother in Marvel’s upcoming TV series

The first trailer for “Marvel’s Inhumans” is finally here and it shows off the most dangerous, dysfunctional family in Marvel history.

“Inhumans” follows the Inhuman royal family in the middle of personal and political strife. Maximus (“Game of Thrones” villain Iwan Rheon) is heading a coup against his brother, and leader of the Inhumans, Black Bolt (Anson Mount), as Maximus is against hiding the Inhumans away on the moon — away from everyday human society.

However, during the coup, Black Bolt gets whisked away to Earth by the teleporting, giant bulldog named Lockjaw.

As Black Bolt has to deal with human authorities without using his powerful voice (seriously, he can destroy a whole city if he wanted to), his family members are being captured and hunted by Maximus’ men.

The first look at the series — via Entertainment Weekly — didn’t give fans a lot of hope and a lot of their criticisms are still on display in the trailer. For one, Medusa (Serinda Swan) still has a terrible wig while the costumes look cheap.

However, fans did get their first real look at Lockjaw, who is a favorite from the comics. So that’s something.

The Inhumans are a race of human genetic hybrids who are granted superpowers when exposed to terrigen crystals. They were first introduced in Season 2 of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and have been the ABC Marvel series’ main source of powered metahumans. The royal family are the leaders of the Inhumans, but due to their strict eugenic policies, live outside of human society.

The eight-episode series, which is premiering in IMAX on Sept. 1 for a two week run before hitting ABC on Sept. 29, was filmed with IMAX cameras.
