Ex-NFL Player Jesse Palmer Joins ‘GMA’ as Special Contributor: Read Internal Staff Memo

ABC News President James Goldston announced the hire on Tuesday

Jesse Palmer

Former NFL quarterback Jesse Palmer just landed a new position: special contributor across all ABC News platforms.

The Florida Gator alum was welcomed to the spot Tuesday morning on “Good Morning America.” Palmer will continue his current role on ESPN and the SEC Network as their lead college football analyst. The move was made official this morning via an internal memo sent by ABC News President James Goldston to his staff, which was obtained by TheWrap.

“In this new role, he will focus on big stories for the second hour as well as news of day and signature big live events throughout the show,” Goldston wrote. “He will also contribute across all ABC News platforms.”

“Since joining the ‘GMA’ team, Jesse’s passion and versatility have been invaluable,” he continued. “He has an infectious enthusiasm for news, an innate ability to tell stories in a unique way, and an insider’s perspective on the big sports headlines of the day.”

Team-

I’m pleased to announce that Jesse Palmer, who has become a familiar face at GMA and across ABC News, is officially joining “GMA” as a Special Contributor.

In this new role, he will focus on big stories for the second hour as well as news of day and signature big live events throughout the show. He will also contribute across all ABC News platforms.

Since joining the “GMA” team, Jesse’s passion and versatility have been invaluable. He has an infectious enthusiasm for news, an innate ability to tell stories in a unique way, and an insider’s perspective on the big sports headlines of the day.

Jesse will continue his role on ESPN and the SEC Network as their lead college football analyst, lending his insight and opinion throughout the season on ESPN’s numerous college football programs on television and radio.

Jesse’s devotion to football has taken him from the playing field to college football’s most prominent and trusted broadcasters. He was an accomplished quarterback with the Florida Gators and went on to play five years in the NFL with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. During the past 10 years Jesse has honed his craft to become one of college football’s most trusted voices.

A proud native of Ottawa, Ontario, Jesse comes from a long line of football stars. (His father Bill played in the CFL and his brother Billy played college football at Notre Dame.)  He holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Florida in marketing and political science. Aside from his love of sports, Jesse, who is fluent in French, loves to travel, cook (he’s hosted three different shows on the Food Network!) and hang out with Tuuli, his French bulldog.

Please join me in welcoming Jesse to ABC News.

Palmer has been repped by Reed Bergman at Playbook, Inc. for 10 years.
