“Cosmos” had stiff competition on network and cable TV on Sunday. ABC's “Resurrection” earned a 3.6 rating in its own debut and 13.6 million viewers. HBO's “True Detective” finale pulled in 3.5 million viewers. Those shows also went up again AMC's “Walking Dead,” which had 12.7 million viewers.

In the U.S., the series debuted on Fox, National Geographic Channel, FX, FXX, FXM, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Mundo and Fox Life. Internationally, the series debut will be available on a total of 220 channels in 181 countries.

Wow! Mainstream broadcast television taking the risk of airing a non-fiction show devoted to science in prime time.

Big kudos to Fox on putting the “true” Reality TV in front of so many people.

Hopefully, this portends more prime time science shows and an expanding audience of viewers for this sort of content.

Problem is, FOX News has spent so much time arguing against global warming and science in favor of creationism and fairytales, that it's core viewer wouldn't want to waste their time with anything science related..unless it had people jumping between planets to blow each other away..This whole thing is a total oxymoron.
