HBO is probably not too pleased with Liam Cunningham

Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth in “Game of Thrones,” may have revealed the premiere date for the seventh season of the hit HBO show.

“I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think,” he told The Independent.  “There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the final season starts again as far as I know in September.”

We knew that “Game of Thrones” would return in 2017, but not exactly when. Every prior season of the show began airing in April except for Season 3, which had its premiere on March 31 back in 2013.

TheWrap reported in January that the reason for the extra wait is due to a necessary shift in the shooting schedule for Season 7. Winter has arrived, and that means “Game of Thrones” needs more snow — and we’re not talking about Jon.

In the past, the show has typically filmed from July to December, but for Season 7, its showrunners moved the schedule back a few months to film through February to allow for a snowier production. That delayed shooting schedule, then required a delayed premiere date for this season.

HBO had no comment.
