“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke is the latest actor to say she would “love to play” James, er, Jane Bond, and she has already picked out her Bond Boy.
“I would love to play Jane Bond,” Clarke told the Daily Star. “My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio. No doubt about it.”
Daniel Craig‘s possible departure from the James Bond franchise that he has led since 2006’s “Casino Royale” has opened the floodgates to speculation about who will replace him.
“X-Files” star Gillian Anderson has become a popular fan choice since the hashtag #NextBond popped up on Twitter, and she responded to her name being thrown in the ring earlier this month.
“It’s Bond. Jane Bond. Thanks for all the votes!” the actress tweeted, attaching a fan-made poster showing her in place of Daniel Craig.
Other popular fan choices for the next Bond include Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston (who has shown serious interest in the role) and Damian Lewis.
On Saturday, “Skyfall” and “Spectre” director Sam Mendes said he’s done directing James Bond films.
The next Bond film, untitled and without a release date, will be the 25th in the series that began with Sean Connery in “Dr. No” in 1962.
