Real Life Couple Stages ‘Game of Thrones’ Themed Wedding – But Avoids Murder and Mayhem (Video)

Darren Prew and Kerry Ford enjoyed a Westeros-style wedding, with every attendee dressing as a different character from the HBO show

Darren Prew and Kerry Ford gave new meaning to the term “fantasy wedding” when they were wed at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire, England while dressed like “Game of Thrones” characters Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

The “GoT” superfans weren’t the only ones in costume, either — their friends, family and everyone who attended dressed like different characters from the hit HBO show, invoking characters  including Ygritte, Khal Drogo, a white walker and even Hodor. The extravagant ceremony also featured wolves, swords and (poison-free) wedding cake.

Blinkbox — a UK-based video-on-demand company — organized the ceremony as a marketing tie-in for the release of the show’s fourth season, which became available through their service in June. As fans well know, “Game of Thrones” has twice used wedding episodes to kill main characters with no warning. Thankfully for the real life newlyweds, the Lannisters did not send their regards.

“It’s not something that happens to normal people every day,” Ford said in the wedding video.

It’s not something that happens on the HBO series, either, considering the show is four season deep and Jon and Daenerys have yet to appear on the same continent.
