Hulu has renewed the period drama “Harlots” for a second season, the streaming platform announced at the Television Critics Association press tour on Thursday.
The series, from creators Moira Buffini and Alison Newman, will return to Hulu for Season 2 in 2018, with an unspecified number of episodes.
Set in 18th century Georgian London, the series follows the Wells family, led by matriarch Margaret (Samantha Morton), her daughter Charlotte (Jessica Brown Findlay) and Margaret’s arch-rival bawd Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville).
The series stars Manville, Brown Findlay and Morton and hails from executive producers Newman, Buffini, Alison Owen, Debra Hayward and Alison Carpenter. Coky Giedroyc will return as lead director and Grainne Marmion as producer.
Other Hulu announcements from Thursday’s presentation include a new distribution deal with Warner Bros. to make the streamer the home of ABC’s ’90s “TGIF” comedy lineup of “Full House,” “Family Matters,” “Step by Step,” “Perfect Strangers” and “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.”
Hulu also announced an untitled documentary about the Barbie doll from producer, writer and director Andrea Nevins.
