Nickelodeon is developing a new TV movie for the classic animated series “Hey Arnold!” TheWrap has learned.
“Hey Arnold!” followed the adventures of Arnold, a fourth grader with a football-shaped head. He lived in a boarding house with his bizarre grandparents and would often go off on adventures with his friend Gerald, as well as Helga, who secretly loved him.
The new TV movie will pick up where the series left off, and will also resolve the storyline of what happened to Arnold’s parents. In the show, Arnold’s parents were doctors who never returned from a mission to aid a small village plagued by disease.
The show originally aired on Nickelodeon from 1996-2004. A standalone movie was released in 2002. Craig Bartlett, Steve Viksten, and Joe Ansolabehere created the series.
Episodes of “Hey Arnold!” recently began airing on Nickelodeon’s new late-night block of ’90s programming called “The Splat.” The programming block features other classic Nickelodeon shows like “Doug,” “Rocko’s Modern Life,” and “Clarissa Explains It All.”
