Former NatGeo president Howard T. Owens has launched a content company called Propagate with financial backing from A+E Networks.

According to media reports, Owens will be joined by former A+E Network general manager David McKillop, who will serve as chief creative officer. The company aims to develop and sell TV and digital projects, and has brought on reality showrunners Jarrett Lambo, Brad Tiemann and Charlie Marquardt as executives.

A+E Networks is a minority stakeholder in Propagate, and the new company will operate autonomously.

Owens, who exited NatGeo in 2014 after three years on the job, was responsible for generating scripted content on the network as well as expanding its docuseries slate, including programs like “Wicked Tuna” and “Life Below Zero.”
