Hugh Jackman Thinks Artificial Intelligence Is Bad News in First ‘Chappie’ Trailer (Video)

Director Neill Blomkamp’s next science fiction movie is about a gentle robot navigating the world Dev Patel brought him into

Neill Blomkamp‘s “Elysium” didn’t quite live up to the expectations he set with his directorial debut, “District 9,” but “Chappie” looks like it might be a return to better form.

The first trailer (above) shows off the science fiction film’s incredible visual effects, as well as what promises to be a touching story, which follows a machine’s journey to becoming “his own man.”

Not everyone in this futuristic world is on board with a robot thinking for itself. Hugh Jackman is one of them.

“The problem with artificial intelligence is it’s way too unpredictable,” Jackman’s character says.

Dev Patel (“Slumdog Millionaire”) leads the cast of the March 6 Sony Pictures release about the world’s first robot that can think and feel for himself.

The movie looks like a blockbuster metaphor for social acceptance of any “black sheep” the world has to offer, and much like human history has proved, it will be a tough journey for Chappie.
