A big deal was made about ABC booking Adam Lambert on “The View” after canceling the pop singer’s scheduled appearance on “Good Morning America” in the wake of his homoerotic live performance on the American Music Awards show.

But the network was still hedging its bet: according to E!, ABC pretaped Lambert’s segment on “The View” just in case, you know, he started making out with one of his dancers again.

The decision to pre-tape the show will almost certainly rankle those who criticized CBS for its double standard in blurring footage of Lambert’s kiss while airing Madonna and Britney’s unblurred.

But ABC’s move also drew criticism from its own stars.

"I think ABC's keeping [the AMA scandal] a lot more alive than anybody else, but that's me," Whoopi Goldberg said.  Sherri Shepherd called the precautions "excessive.”

Here’s the "View" video:

ABC/Disney should not only apologize to Adam Lambert, nor only the gay community, nor only the feminist community, but to society as a whole. we have all been injured by this singling out of 1 individual in what amounts to a modern day witch hunt.

The constant talk about how Adam was in the moment and not everything was rehearsed is what they are glomming onto now to justify their homophobia. Do you think Janet Jackson rehearsed every crotch grab? Do you think Eminem rehearsed every curse? Perhaps, since they were ready with the delay button. Well, do you think he rehearsed the mentioning of 17 rapes and 400 assaults and they just forgot to hit the censor button? Sadly, no, I do not think they forgot and I do think it was rehearsed and I do think that ABC/Disney was absolutely fine with that form of "artistic" expression, just not the gay kind.

Here are some astonishing statistics:
1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will be a victim of sexual assault in their lifetime.
In 2007, there were 248,300 victims of sexual assault.
Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.
Only 6% of rapists will ever spend a day in jail.

So, with ABC/Disney's mixed message about what is acceptable for our children to see and what is not, based on these statistics and the Eminem performance, one can almost hear the ABC executives saying, "Don't worry dearies, if you get raped or assaulted; the odds are the assailant won't even spend a day in jail, so we won't stand in the way of "artistic" expression, just the gay kind." Maybe Elizabeth Hasselbeck should spend less time worrying about the agressive simulation of a sexual act between 2 consenting adults and more time worrying about how her network can justify condoning the glorification of violent sexual violations between nonconsenting adults and children.
