Things are heating up for “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Jason George.

George, who plays Dr. Ben Warren on the long-running ABC medical drama, is shifting over to the network’s upcoming “Grey’s Anatomy” firefighter spinoff, where he will be a series regular.

He will continue to co-star on the 14th season of Shonda Rhimes’ hospital series until production begins on the still-untitled spinoff that was announced in May.

George originated the role of Ben Warren on “Grey’s” Season 6 and has been a series regular since Season 12.

Ben is married to Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and helped save Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) in the aftermath of an explosion during the Season 13 finale. That episode provided a farewell for Stephanie, with actress Hinton leaving the cast.

Jaina Lee Ortiz (“Rosewood”) is also a cast member on the firefighter series.

“Grey’s Anatomy” launches Season 14 on Sept. 28 on ABC.
