Fox has renewed “American Grit” for a second season, the network announced Friday.

John Cena serves as host and executive producer on the reality competition series, which premiered in April.

The series splits 16 everyday men and women into four teams and puts them through a variety of military-grade and survival-themed challenges. The show is currently casting for Season 2.

In Season 1, Cena led a group of mentors, including Navy SEAL Commander Rorke Denver, Army Sergeant Noah Galloway, Marine Gunnery Sergeant Tawanda “Tee” Hanible and Army Ranger Nick “The Reaper” Irving. No word yet on whether or not they will return for Season 2.

Cena recently signed a development deal with “American Grit” producers Leftfield Entertainment through which they will co-create and produce unscripted projects for television and digital platforms.

“American Grit” is also executive-produced by Brent Montgomery, David George, Adam Sher, Will Nothacker and Jon Kroll.
