Jon Stewart Mocks California’s Water Conservation Efforts and ‘Jurassic World’ (Video)

L.A.-based correspondent Al Madrigal joins him in New York for a “drought rumspringa”

Jon Stewart mocked California’s water conservation efforts in wake of the serious drought the state is facing, and took a shot at “Jurassic World” in the process on Wednesday night.

“California as you know is going through a historic, unprecedented dry spell, and I’m not talking about original movie ideas,” the “Daily Show” host joked. “Take that ‘Jurassic World.’ Hey, what if they built another dinosaur theme park? But this time, things also went horribly wrong.”

After his jab at the Universal release, Stewart targeted a new water recycling program called “indirect potable reuse,” which a news clip noted is known colloquially as “toilet to tap.”

“If you want people to buy something, you don’t call it what it is,” Stewart said. “You gotta spice it up a little bit.”

Stewart brought in Senior California Correspondent Al Madrigal from Los Angeles to talk about California’s conservation efforts, but Madrigal was too distracted by the abundance of water.

“I’m taking advantage of your unregulated east coast water-topia,” he said, before pulling out a hose to drink from. “I haven’t wasted water like this in seven months, Jon.”

After being chastised for spilling water all over the “Daily Show” set, Madrigal stormed off, declaring that he was taking his “drought rumpsringa” elsewhere.

What followed was a montage of Madrigal wasting water in various New York locations, emptying water bottles onto the sidewalk, flushing clean toilets and using a car wash to clean his suit.
