Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Guest Star on ‘Mindy Project’ Season Premiere

Mindy Kaling-led sitcom moves to Hulu for Season 4 after being canceled by Fox

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will guest star on the Season 4 premiere of “The Mindy Project,” TheWrap has learned.

The premiere episode will feature a “Sliding Doors” inspired storyline, wherein one version of main character Mindy Lahiri’s life finds her married to her ideal man, Matt (Gordon-Levitt), a charming reality show producer for Bravo.
The Mindy Kaling-led sitcom will air 26 new episodes on Hulu after it was canceled by Fox after Season 3.

A premiere date for the fourth run has yet to be announced, and the online streaming platform has the option to order additional seasons.

The single-camera “Mindy Project” is created by and stars Kaling as a skilled OB/GYN navigating the tricky waters of both her personal and professional life. The series also stars Chris Messina, Ed Weeks, Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant and Xosha Roquemore.

From 3 Arts Entertainment in association with Universal Television, “Mindy” is executive produced by Kaling, Howard Klein, Matt Warburton, Charlie Grandy and Michael Spiller.

Gordon-Levitt last appeared in “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” and will soon be seen as Edward Snowden in Oliver Stone’s “Snowden.” He is represented by WME.

The news of Gordon-Levitt’s casting was first reported by Buzzfeed.
