“Ride Along 3” is already in script development with series screenwriters Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, TheWrap has exclusively learned.

In an interview with TheWrap, director Tim Story said his upcoming projects include “Ride Along 3,” with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart expected to reprise their roles as buddy cops.

“We’re writing the script right now, we’re writing away and basically, I’m waiting to see some pages and we’re excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin [Hart] and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world,” he said. “I’m impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great ideas.”

The “Ride Along” movies, starring Hart and Ice Cube, have grossed more than $225 million at the domestic box office. Story directed both films, which have also starred Olivia Munn, Benjamin Bratt, John Leguizamo and Laurence Fishburne.

The first film opened in 2014, with the second film debuting in 2016.

Story is currently working on “Humbug,” a contemporary story telling of “Scrooge,” which will also star Ice Cube. His other credits include the “Think Like a Man” movies, “Fantastic Four” and “Taxi.”

Hart’s concert movie, “Kevin Hart: What Now?” is opening on Friday and is expected to gross roughly $14 million.
