Larry David Returns to ‘SNL’ as Bernie Sanders: ‘What the Hell Is This Tonight?’ (Video)

“Of course I hate you. I hate everyone,” comedian jokes on Donald Trump-hosted episode

Following a popular turn as Bernie Sanders in the Oct. 17 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” Larry David returned to the NBC series for the Donald Trump-hosted show.

The comedian appeared in the show’s cold open, a parody of MSNBC’s Democratic forum on Friday night, with Cecily Strong playing the cable news network’s Rachel Maddow, moderating the forum and asking the candidates some “tough questions.” “But don’t worry, not actually tough, just MSNBC tough,” she reassured them.

David’s appearance was met with cheers and applause from the show’s live audience, but he quickly shut them down. “I’m not Elvis Presley,” the comedian joked as the Democratic candidate. “Let’s just get on with it.”

The sketch went on to make fun of Sanders’ grassroots fundraising, his election as Vermont’s senator and his sour demeanor. “Of course I hate you. I hate everyone,” he told Strong’s Maddow at one point. “What’s to like? The only people I like are my seven grandchildren.”

Taran Killam was also briefly featured as Sanders’ fellow Democratic candidate Martin O’Malley, and Kate McKinnon brought back her popular Hillary Clinton impression for the sketch.
