Lea Michele has joined the cast of the untitled ABC comedy pilot from “Hamilton” alum Daveed Diggs, TheWrap has learned.

The pilot, written and executive produced by Jeremy Bronson, centers on an outspoken, idealistic rapper who runs for office as a publicity stunt and actually gets elected. He surprises everyone (including himself) when he has a natural knack for the job and slowly transforms City Hall.

The part, originally written as the mayor’s chief of staff, is being reworked to accommodate Michele’s casting.

“Search Party’s” Brandon Michael Hall is set to star as the mayor in the project, which is executive produced by Diggs. Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber and director James Griffiths will also executive produce.

Michele, best known as the star of Fox’s “Glee,” currently stars in Ryan Murphy’s horror-comedy “Scream Queens,” which is currently awaiting a potential third-season renewal.
