Wahlberg and Monahan have a long history together, as Monahan wrote Wahlberg’s movies “The Departed” and “The Gambler,” which recently wrapped production.
Monahan also wrote “American Desperados,” a feature adaptation of the documentary “Cocaine Cowboys” that Wahlberg said he plans to start shooting in September under the direction of his “Lone Survivor” collaborator Peter Berg.
“Mojave” is an Atlas Independent production that follows a near-suicidal artist (Hedlund) who escapes into the desert to take an existential crisis head-on, only to encounter a doppelganger-like antagonist in the form of a brilliant, homicidal drifter (Isaac).
Wahlberg’s role remains under wraps.
Monahan produced with William Green of Atlas Independent, whose Andy Horwitz executive produced with Justine Suzanne Jones of Monahan’s Henceforth Pictures. The film does not have a release date yet.
Wahlberg, who is currently producing the “Entourage” movie for Warner Bros., will spend the summer filming “Ted 2” for Universal. He’s repped by WME and Leverage Management, attorney Jason Sloane.
