Mischa Barton, Drew Fuller to Star in Supernatural Thriller ‘Cloudland’ (Exclusive)

“Final Destination” creator Jeffrey Reddick is overseeing the film, which co-stars Adi Shankar and Katie Parker

Adi-ShankarMischa Barton (“The OC”), Drew Fuller (“Army Wives”), Katie Parker (“Absentia”) and “Dredd” executive producer Adi Shankar are set to star in “Cloudland,” a supernatural thriller coming together under the oversight of “Final Destination” creator Jeffrey Reddick, TheWrap has learned.

Reddick created the project and will share story credit with Alex Bram, who will make his feature directorial debut with “Cloudland.” Bram also co-wrote the script with Martin Aguilera. Reddick will oversee production.

Story follows a young journalist (Fuller) who investigates a religious cult’s terrifying prophecy after the paranormal murder of his younger sister (Parker).

Barton will play Fuller’s editor and love interest, while Shankar (pictured above) will play an intimidating member of the cult.

While Shankar is best known as an indie producer and film financier, he recently played an unrecognizable role alongside Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick in Marjane Satrapi‘s “The Voices,” which he also produced through his 1984 Privste Defense Contractors banner.

“The more we discussed the story, the more I realized that this had such a rich mythology, and strong characters, that we were talking about a franchise that I believe can be just as successful as ‘Final Destination.’ It’s a riveting, edge-of-your seat ride, and Alex and Martin Aguilera really knocked the script out of the park,” said Reddick.

VFX company PRPVFX (“Evil Dead”) will bring the script’s surreal elements to life, while Mark Lanza (“Independence Day”) will handle sound design for “Cloudland,” which starts production this fall in Los Angeles.

Reddick is represented by Anarchy Management, while Bram is repped by Allensworth Entertainment. Aguilera is repped by Vol. Unlimited. Parker is represented by Affirmative Entertainment and attorney Joel VanderKloot. Barton is repped by Artist International and manager Nuala Barton, Fuller is repped by the Gersh Agency and Untitled Entertainment.
