Universal announced two more scheduling announcements Monday, slating the Zac Efron drama “Charlie St. Cloud” for Oct. 15 and moving Judd Apatow-produced comedy “Get Him to the Greek” up one week to June 4.
“Greek” stars Jonah Hill as a young man troubled with the task of transporting comedian Russell Brand’s signature rock-star character, Aldous Snow, from London to L.A.’s Greek Theater for a concert.
Moving “Greek” up one week gets it out of the way of two high-profile remakes, Fox’s “The A-Team” with Leem Neesen and Bradely Cooper, and Sony’s “The Karate Kid” with Jackie Chan, both of which are slated to open June 11.
Based on Ben Sherwood’s best-seller, “Charlie St. Cloud” stars Efron as a young man dealing with the death of his younger brother. The project will re-team Efron with “17 Again” director Burr Steers.
On Friday, Universal announced release dates for three other films, setting the Hasbro-toy-adapted "Stretch Armstrong" (starring Taylor Lautner) and "Battleship" for 2012, and the DreamWorks co-production "Cowboys and Aliens" for next year.
