The Santa Barbara International Film Festival's 26th edition will run from Thursday, Jan. 27, through Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011.

SBIFF executive director Roger Durling announced the 2011 dates on Tuesday.

The festival said its silver-anniversary edition earlier this year was so successful that the City of Santa Barbara reported it saw an increase in hotel tax revenue for the first time in 16 months.

“We are proud of the work we do, the films we feature, the guests we welcome and getting notice that we also helped boost the economy in our sweet town, all the better,” Durling said in a statement.

With its smack-in-the-middle-of-awards-season timing, the festival usually attracts a number of stars to participate in its screenings, tributes and symposiums. It also presents a slate of honors, often demonstrating its prescience when the Oscar nominations are announced.

SBIFF attracts more than 70,000 visitors each year.
