NBC has greenlit a pilot based on the hit 1990 film “Problem Child.”

The comedy follows the cat-and-mouse relationship between a set of parents and their brilliant but mischievous child.

Produced by Universal Television, TBD Entertainment, Imagine TV and STX Entertainment, the pilot will be written by Scot Armstrong (“Hangover II”) who’s also an executive producer. Bob Simonds, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan and “A Beautiful Mind” producer Brian Grazer will also executive produce.

Directed by Dennis Dugan, the film “Problem Child” starred the late John Ritter, Michael Oliver, Amy Yasbeck and Gilbert Gottfried. The film spawned two sequels and a short-lived animated series from 1993 to 1994.

NBC also announced Thursday a pilot for the remake of the British series “Cuckoo,” TheWrap previously reported.
